Mocha Rum Cake

I did this cake for Mother's Day last weekend. The client ordered 4 layers of chocolate rum cake with mocha buttercream and sliced bananas in between. I added a few white morning glories for decoration. I hope her mom enjoyed it! Wish I could have been home to make my mom a Mother's Day cake...

Pink Present Cake

I did this cake at Sugar Butter Flour. The smaller red one is one of their displays. You can see this cake on the bakery website as well. Geez... I'm way out of practice on fondant square cakes. Corners Corners Corners!

Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head... This was a wedding cake for my friend's mom. A little unconventional, but very cool.

Confetti Cake

This one I did at work for our Human Resources manager. Turns out she usually gets a candle stuck in a pumpkin pie for her birthday since it is so close to Thanksgiving! I think everyone deserves their own cake, especially Lisa since she is so nice!

Fancy Pink Cake

Again, design and materials by Sugar Butter Flour. Have you checked out their website yet? http://www.sugarbutterflour.com/

The ribbon still had to dry, so try to imagine it without the pieces of rolled paper or balls of plastic wrap.

White & Orange Flowers

This was another cake I was able to do while visiting Sugar Butter Flour. Design and materials by Sugar Butter Flour.

Introduction to Blogging

As I have never 'blogged' before, and am not exactly sure what a 'blog' is, I have titled this first attemp as an Intro. This way, if I am a bad first-time blogger, I can blame it on inexperience. Good plan, right? Anyway, this project was created to display wedding cakes in my portfolio. I am a pastry chef with a large hotel company. This keeps me very busy. However, I look forward to wedding season on the off chance I might get a few on-the-side wedding cake jobs. This is my passion, and I hope one day to be able to do it on a more frequent basis. But, for now, it remains a very rewarding and challenging hobby.
